The Brief
When Boux Avenue announced its new permanent store at Liverpool ONE, House of Bakes proposed a bespoke bake for the launch. The Boux Avenue team asked for something unmistakably on-brand: sugar cookies shaped in the female silhouette and finished with delicate, lingerie-inspired icing. The result had to be stylish, playful and true to the Boux Avenue aesthetic.
Samples were made and sent to Boux Avenue’s London head office. Once the design was approved, production began.
The Craft
Each cookie is a small piece of edible art. The icing was built up in several layers, each left to dry fully before the next was added. The final detailing was worked by hand with a fine paintbrush, softening the icing into a lace-like texture.
Decorating alone took around eight minutes per cookie, and more than 40 hours across the full order. To make sure every cookie held a crisp, clean silhouette, each one was rolled to an exact thickness, cut, frozen and then baked from frozen.
The Presentation
Every cookie was individually wrapped in a heat-sealed cellophane bag, labelled with ingredients and allergens, and finished with a hand-tied ribbon. Altogether, the Liverpool ONE order took between 60 and 70 hours of handwork.
Round Two: Manchester Arndale
A few months later, Boux Avenue returned for the opening of its Manchester Arndale store.
With the process refined during the Liverpool project, we delivered another 300 cookies in around 50 hours, to the same standard of detail.
The Result
Two flagship launches and 600 hand-decorated cookies, each one finished with a hand-tied ribbon.
